Getting Ready for Network Success

Before diving into network management, let's make sure you're properly equipped with the right mindset, tools, and foundation for your learning journey.

Your Pre-Learning Roadmap

These three essential steps will set you up for success in our network management program starting in September 2025.

1

Assess Your Current Setup

Take inventory of your existing hardware and software. You'll need a computer capable of running virtualization software and at least 8GB of RAM for the hands-on exercises we'll be doing.

2

Build Basic Computer Skills

Get comfortable with file management, basic command line operations, and installing software. These fundamental skills will make your network learning experience much smoother.

3

Set Learning Expectations

Network management requires patience and practice. Plan to dedicate 8-10 hours per week for study and hands-on practice. Real expertise develops over months, not weeks.

Essential Tools You'll Need

  • Virtual Lab Environment

VMware Workstation or VirtualBox for creating isolated network scenarios. This is where you'll practice configurations safely.

  • Network Monitoring Software

Wireshark for packet analysis and network troubleshooting. It's free but incredibly powerful for understanding network traffic.

  • Documentation Platform

A reliable note-taking system like Obsidian or Notion. Network configurations need detailed documentation for future reference.

  • Remote Access Tools

SSH clients like PuTTY or terminal applications. Most network management happens remotely through command-line interfaces.

Learning from Real Experience

Network management isn't just about memorizing commands—it's about understanding how systems interact and troubleshoot problems when things go wrong. Our instructors bring decades of field experience from Taiwan's telecommunications and enterprise sectors.

You'll learn from professionals who've managed networks for major Taiwanese companies, dealt with real outages, and solved complex connectivity issues. This practical perspective makes all the difference between theoretical knowledge and job-ready skills.
